It is part of
South African culture to celebrate through song and dance.
South Africans know how to do this very well and we have so
much to be grateful for and to celebrate in this beautiful
country of ours. 2010 is an important year to be
celebrating. Unfortunately people with disabilities are
often not part of the celebrations because there is no dance
for them to do and the dances that are there, like the Diski
Dance are not so easy for people with disabilities to do.
The Laduma
Jive is an all inclusive celebratory dance that takes the
needs of various disabilities into consideration but can be
done by able bodied individuals at the same time. The Laduma
Jive is the brain-child of radio presenter Doug Anderson and
specialized dance choreographer Gladys Agulhas from Agulhas
Theatre Works.
